The Town of Vienna

First settled in the mid 1700s, the Town of Vienna VA is a charming suburb of Washington DC, most notable for its historic buildings, railroad and small locally-owned businesses. As part of an initiative to update their existing brand, the town reached out to local design agencies for logo submissions to be chosen by Vienna residence. The logo concept submitted by Ashton Design, and chosen by the town, was inspired by a combination of the historic architecture and railroad but with a more contemporary and highly flexible twist.

Final Logo

Because we were only commissioned to create a logo, not implement it, a variety of layouts and color palettes were designed to work in any condition. The various layouts were inspired by historic train tickets and the color pallets were pulled from the modern day town.

Finally, a new style of iconography was also proposed to be used in conjunction with the logo. Various buildings, festivals, and seasonal glyphs and images were created to be implemented and to inspire Vienna’s designs moving forward.
